Regular Expressions (Regex) are used in many languages, such as Perl
and Tcl as well as being a key component of many UNIX utilities.
Regex's are extremely good at handling complex and repetitive string manipulation tasks, but the
syntax can be difficult to master. The Regex Coach is a great interactive application to help learn,
create and debug regex's.
Copy your Regex into one pane and the target string into the other. The Regex Coach checks the regex
for syntax errors and if OK, highlights the substring found:-
Click the scan button to advance through the target string and highlight each match in turn:-
Highlight individual terms in the Regex to see the corresponding section of the target string:-
Highlight individual terms in the Regex and select the info tab to see a description:-

Cons
- Not much help to learn Regex's from scratch, but a great tool to build on existing knowledge
